Asana is introducing an update to improve project security and access permissions consistency. Currently, if a user has two different access levels in a project through different roles, Asana assigns the lowest level of access they are entitled to across these roles.
Read our project permissions article to learn more about project roles and access levels.
During the migration period for this update, super admins and project admins are presented with a key decision. In projects where users have two conflicting access levels, super admins can either upgrade or allow project admins to select access preferences for each project. Project admins can then choose to either upgrade each member to their highest access level or downgrade the default access level for the project to match that of the member with the lowest level of access.
If no action is taken by April 30th, Asana will automatically upgrade all members, ensuring everyone has the highest access level they are entitled to.
Responsibilities of admins
Super admins and project admins are responsible for any conflicting permissions and must review projects for any conflicting permissions. This is a great opportunity for them to refine access settings in a way that aligns with your team's collaboration needs and project security requirements.
Timeframe
Asana will provide a window from April 1st to April 29th for admins of selected domains to adjust user access levels. This period is essential for aligning user permissions for those with multiple access levels.
